Connect to College

Connect to College Program

As a first-generation student, taking the ACT/SAT, touring, and applying for college was extremely daunting. Wellesley Connects provided me with a knowledgeable mentor, with whom I was connected because of my interest in health care. Four years later, I am a pediatric nurse, which has been a lifelong dream of mine. – Lily T.

The Need: Navigating the college application process can be challenging, especially for students who need additional support and guidance. From identifying the right programs to securing financial aid, many Wellesley High School (WHS) students  benefit from extra assistance as they plan for their future.

Our Response: Launched in 2016 as Wellesley Connects, our program helps WHS  juniors and seniors set goals, explore college and career pathways, and access financial aid resources. Identified by the WHS Guidance Department, students and their parents are invited to participate in evening workshops may also be paired with mentors for one-on-one guidance if they request.

The Impact: Students gain hands-on support with college applications, essay writing, and financial aid processes, ensuring they have the tools and confidence needed for the next step in their education.

Community Partners: This program is a collaborative effort with the WHS Guidance Department, town and school social workers, and dedicated mentors who help students successfully navigate their educational journey.
